My goal is to create timeless photos that you will remember for a lifetime!

Preparing for your session

For the majority of our session, I will encourage you to embrace one another and love on each other as if I wasn't there! There will be no overly staged photos, awkward posing, or over the top props.

We will play, laugh, explore, get a little dirty, and have fun! There will be belly laughs, piggy back rides, snuggles, singing, tickles, and nose rubs!

I want to embrace the chaos and capture the raw love. Let's freeze time and let your kids be kids!

I encourage you to tell your kids (and spouse) that you will be taking family photos, let them know just how important these photos are to YOU, how much fun we’ll all have as we explore a new place together, and show them how excited you are! Kids feel our energy, so be sure yours is positive and upbeat! Also, make sure everyone has a good meal before our session, trust me, it matters!

OH!! And bring on the gummy bears as bribery if you need to, but make sure not to tell the kids ahead of time! ;)

WARDROBE STYLING.

Photo session clothing choices are SO important!!

When styling your family for your upcoming photo session, consider picking Mama’s outfit first. Once she feels beautiful, begin styling everyone else!

To the right, you’ll find a few helpful tips for selecting the perfect wardrobe for your session! If you need help, I’m an email or call away!

  • Not everyone should wear patterns, stripes, or solids as it tends to be distracting in your final images. For every 3 people, I DO suggest having ONE person wear a pattern - stripes, gingham, floral, geometric, check, etc. Florals are my favorite! 😉

  • Start by picking out 2-3 colors and try to coordinate within that color palette. Once you have that down, begin choosing clothing, shoes, and accessories that will complement one another other within that color scheme.

Personally, I love neutrals or light pastels!

  • Adding layers and accessories to your wardrobe will add a little more dimension to your final images and really make them pop!

    Have fun accessorizing!

Go ahead and wear the cute hat that you have had sitting in your closet!! Add a scarf or kimono. Peek through your jewelry box and choose a necklace or bracelet.

    Don’t forget the shoes!

Avoid wearing gym shoes or sneakers at all costs. Instead, go with a fun pair of heels, sandals, boots, or lace up dress shoes!

  • Try to avoid mixing black and white whenever possible. It is very easy to have the whites in your outfit blown out in camera, causing those wardrobe pieces to lose visual detail in your final images.

  • The ultimate goal is to coordinate your wardrobe WITHOUT matching. I repeat, do NOT choose matching outfits, as doing so tends to be very distracting in your final images.
